Our March 17th meeting was packed full of information. We heard from Deonn Stott, who showed us her 3 quilts which will be featured in her HMQS classes that she will be teaching in May. They are : Cartenter's Star, and Soldier's Star quilts, and Hunter Star Tree Skirt. These classes sound like a lot of fun, I hope you will consider signing up for one of them. Kathryn Lindsey shared with us her print outs of sashings and borders. Thank- you so much for the sketches! I have already used quite a few of them. I'm keeping them where I can refer to them often.
Our block design of the month was the Log Cabin. Our guild members shared their ideas for quilting this popular quilt and Kathryn taught us how to use Lisa Calle's design article from Machine Quilter Magazine. We learned how to fill the blank areas on a quilt. Lastly Diane Jaegar told us about her involvement with Quilts of Valor. We learned how we can become involved with this organization, which provides veterans with beautiful homemade machine quilted quilts.

And we were given the opportunity to work on a QOV quilt that Diane had set up on a Handi-Quilter machine right there in the room with us (just one of the many perks we enjoy because of our wonderful hosts). It seems like we never have enough time when we all get together. I actually forgot to have the ladies do show and tell at the end of the meeting, and that is always the favorite part of guild meetings! So, please forgive me. See you all in May!
