There is a new Shop opening in Bountiful – Quilter’s
Attic. Opening March 1, 2014.
New Product –
SewRed Glasses. Missouri Star web site
sells them – one day only however for $8.88.
She passed around a list to see who wanted the glasses and to see if we
could do a group buy. Then someone
mentioned that Jolene Kooyman made them and she was here in Utah. So maybe we could order through her.
Then someone else mentioned that if you have
an iPhone or Droid phone you already have the ability to see the color values
in the material when you go shopping or put a quilt together. You put your phone to pictures, then mono and
the phone now shows the values.
GUESTS: The guests were the Modern Quilt Guild. This was so fun. They did a trunk show of the quilts they have
been making. They
were a cute group of girls. We really enjoyed
having them.
Just before the Guests:
Barbie who belongs to the Modern Quilt Guild as well, taught the lesson
on how modern quilters quilt on their domestic machines. They do
random patterns wavy lines that don’t match one from another or sometimes, they
do match. They use painters tape, chalk
and draw the pattern for guides. And
they use the walking foot and spray baste their pieces together. They are self taught, and they might start a
design (no pattern mind you) and change it in the middle.
The Definition of Modern Quilts and Quilters is very random
and has sub-categories too.
Classic, Modern.
Liberated Modern, Modern fun, Modern use anything you have. It was fun too, because several of the girls
liked the scrappy backs of their quilts as much or more than the fronts.
Even though they like to use the material that is on sale
and then make something out of it, the also like to use Riley Blake Charm packs
and build a quilt around one of his prints – for a challenge quilt.
